Good Brothers of Alpha East,

Brothers, we write to you today not merely with words of comfort, but with a declaration of unwavering solidarity. It is in times such as these, when the world beyond our chapter rooms and regional assemblies demands our full attention, that the true meaning of brotherhood is tested, and it is our solemn duty to rise to that call.

As Eastern Regional Vice President, I am compelled to address our brotherhood on a matter of urgent concern. The escalating conflict in the Middle East is not a distant geopolitical event; it is a crisis that is touching the lives of our very own brothers. Alpha men are present in the affected regions, serving honorably in professional, civic, diplomatic, and military capacities. They are our brothers, and their safety is our priority.

The President of the International Association of Alpha Chapters (IAAC), Dr. Steven D. Carter, has provided the following critical update to the fraternity:

“The situation is evolving and will change in 24 hours. We have brothers in all affected countries. Some have been told to bunker in place, while others have been given orders to evacuate. All chapter administrative functions have been suspended.”

— Dr. Steven D. Carter, District Director, IAAC

Brothers, let us be clear: thoughts and prayers alone are not the currency of this fraternity. Alpha Phi Alpha was built on action, on advocacy, and on the conviction that no brother stands alone. As chapter administrative functions have been suspended in affected areas, we must ensure that our brothers bunkering in place or navigating evacuation orders know without question that the full weight of this brotherhood stands behind them.

We are actively coordinating with the office of the IAAC District Director, Dr. Carter, Brother Chuma Onwuka, President – Sigma Psi Lambda – Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and all relevant fraternal leadership structures to monitor conditions on the ground, facilitate communication where possible, and mobilize the resources of this great fraternity in support of our brothers in harm’s way. The Eastern Region will serve as a point of contact and support for any brother, family member, or chapter affiliate seeking information or assistance related to affected brothers in our region.

To our brothers who are currently sheltering, evacuating, or serving in any capacity across the affected regions of the Middle EastWe see you. We are with you. Your lives and your safety are not secondary to any administrative function, chapter obligation, or organizational agenda. The bond of Alpha Phi Alpha transcends geography, conflict zones, and the uncertainty of war.

We call upon every chapter, every brother, and every member of our extended fraternal family in the Eastern Region to remain vigilant, compassionate, and proactive. Check on your brothers. Reach out to those with family members serving abroad. Open your homes, your networks, and your resources. This is what Alpha does. This is who we are.

Updates will be issued as the situation develops in coordination with the IAAC and General Headquarters. Brothers are urged to monitor official fraternal communications and to refrain from circulating unverified information.

In the spirit of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind — we stand as one.

Fraternally and Firmly,

Bro. Rasheen Smith
Eastern Regional Vice President

Bro. Jeremy Henderson
